These are actually a little harder to come by around here.
If you've watched any of my videos or seen any of my posts, then you know that water snakes abound around here. We encounter them and catch them all the time. Mostly, they are either Northern Water Snakes or Water Moccasins though, so this is a species that we find a little less often.
The Plain-Bellied Water Snake (Nerodia erythrogaster) looks a lot like the Northern Water Snake, until you look beneath the serpent. This one was found on a low-water bridge that we frequently cross, and I was pleased to encounter it. Check out the video for more info.
