July is one of my favorite times of the year to be in New Mexico. We are often treated to spectacular sunsets on a nightly basis.
Because of the monsoon rains that strike nearly every afternoon, the sunsets are usuallys studded with rainbows. Sometimes we even get to bear witness to spectacular double rainbows that stretch across the sky,
The monsoons also contribute to the greenery that spreads across the dusty brown of the desert floor. The river over flows, creating these lovely wetland enviornments in the bosque.
The greenery, of course, brings out all kinds of wildlife. You might just encounter a herd of wild horses on your hike.
There is also no shortage of things to do in New Mexico's summertime. Weekly concerts in Old Town, ice cream festivals, stargazing parties, the list goes on. If you're planning a visit to this awesome place, July is a wonderful time to do so.
