In the middle of May 2018, I came across a female Red Fox looking after her babies in an open field.
It’s about a month later and the baby kits have grown substantially.
I thought that you might like to See What I See.
In my area (of Ontario, Canada) it’s rare to see foxes doing their thing out in the open.
I captured this footage in the early evening (at about 6:00 pm) and I uploaded the footage to my YouTube channel on June 22, 2018.
This family of foxes were in the exact same field that they were in when I originally discovered them in May.
The Red Fox is considered to be the largest species of true foxes and there are 45 known subspecies which are currently recognized.
The young (of a mating pair) often stay with their parents to help rear their younger siblings.
Foxes eat invertebrates, reptiles, small rodents, game birds, and rabbits. On occasion, they will also eat fruit and vegetables.
In my area, their natural predators are coyotes, wolves and humans.
The Red Fox is considered one of the top 100 invasive species on the planet.
Foxes are incredibly abundant and can be found on every continent, including Australia.
Their pelts are still prized in the fur industry and that is why I have listed humans as one of their natural predators.
I welcome your comments and I invite you to follow me on my journey...sometimes we will be quietly observing.
