Today I will explain why leaves can have colors other than green, because I am a person who loves plants so I am interested in discussing them.
in the leaf there is a lot of chlorophyll which makes the leaves green, if the color of the leaves is not green? then what makes him have a different color?
Most of the leaves contain a lot of chlorophyll, which is why most leaves are green. But there are types of leaves that have a small amount of chlorophyll, so the color is not green. For example, plants that contain lots of carotenoids will have yellow leaves.
Although the structure is different from chlorophyll, carotenoids and others also have the same function in carrying out the photosynthesis process.
In the existing condition, not all plant leaves are always green, leaves can be yellow, red, and even tend to be blue. This is due to the presence of solutes that can produce certain colors. Some of them are Anthocyanin and Anthoxanthin. Anthocyanins are in the cytoplasm and cause pink, dark red, and blue.
This color will change according to the degree of acidity (pH) of the environment.
