My hometown, located in the southern region of India is facing severe water crisis. The water reserve has hit its all time low and people are eagerly awaiting the monsoons which has been delayed terribly. Few nights ago there was heavy thunder and lightning that was followed by mild showers. It must have lasted for around an hour or so and was enough to uproot my neighbour's coconut tree.
My neighbour treats her plants as her kids. She ensures that she waters them twice a day and sees that they are not harmed in any way by the kids who play in the area around their house. She tells me how she treated her trees as her friends when she has no one to talk to when they shifted to their new house then around 3 decades ago.
The coconut tree was uprooted late at night at around 1 AM and since then my neighbour had been inconsolable. I went to console her the next morning and she poured her heart out. She cried saying how much she loves that tree and how they have grown older together.
The tree was blocking the public way, so the tree chopper was called in and he charged around 3.5k to dispose off the tree. Mild showers that in no way raised the water reserve of the city has caused so much loss to my neighbour. Last year the monsoons were very destructive. Some cities were ruined completely. I just hope, monsoons try to be a little nice.
