REMARKABLE ROCKS
You can’t miss this remarkable landmarks on your Kangaroo Island holiday. This Rocks locate on the west side of Kangaroo Island, part of the Flinders Chase National Park. The Amazing shapes are created by 500 million years of rain, wind and waves from southern ocean.
You can see some colours on the rocks, that because of the minerals. Black mica, Bluish quartz and Pinkish feldspar comprise most of the granite of Remarkable Rocks. You are able to walk on the rocks, some people even jump on the bigger rocks and take some interesting photos. (Like “Supporting Heavy Rocks” or “Falling from the edge”)
The best time to go there are, early morning and evening. Those time you can avoid large crowds and see the sculptures with beautiful sunrise/sunset. It’s just stunning! However, if you can go there only day time, don’t worry. Day time has different scenery. I love to come here especially sunny day, with the vast blue southern ocean and white huge cloud on the sky, seeing the contrast of blue and white behind these rocks is just Amazing.
There is boardwalk leading to the Remarkable Rocks from car park and direct way for disable people. From the boardwalk, you can see some coastal plants, birds and sometimes Goannas. It is nice walk to be ready to jump on the amazing rocks with ocean breeze! I definitely recommend you to go to boardwalk if you have a camera, it’s good spot to take whole photo of Remarkable Rocks.
The Flinders Chase National Park has some other distinct Kangaroo Island landmarks, such as Admirals Arch, a New Zealand fur seal colony and Cape Borda Light station. I will show you in future article about this park and Kangaroo Island more!
