After visiting the Tulum ruins the previous day, we found a cab driver that was willing to be our private driver for the entire day - all for just over $75 USD. He would take us to the Coba ruins, 3 cenotes, and anywhere else that we wanted to go.
There aren't many rivers and lakes in the Yucatán peninsula and often times, cenotes (Sen-oh-tays) are the only nearby source of drinking water. Cenotes are plentiful - about 6,000 strong on the peninsula.
What is a cenote and what makes them so gorgeous? Groundwater is filtered through the limestone and forms a cenote. They're not always underground in caves like the ones in today's video. Watch this video to see us go deep underground and experience the gorgeous bluish-green water in these caverns!
