The wolf spider
Last night at my partners place, before going to bed, I saw a spider unlike the usual I have seen. The raised height, colours and just everything was different. It looked similar to the one in the picture below, but a lot more black with the lighter colour on top and black underneath.
So it had run under some things on the ground which I told my partner, having her tell me to kill it in which the mighty shoe would slam down onto the hiding spot. Suddenly... an explosion happened and a bunch of baby spiders spurted out!
Imagine black versions of these and them being all over the ground.
So we had to keep the dog at bay while I got ye ol' bug spray to kill the little bastards before lifting things up to check for the mother which, she was dead, yay! After some thinking I realised it was the wolf spider, a species that carry the young on its back.
None bit us but even if they did, they are not poisonous with just some itchy, irritated skin for a bit, or at a low chance, some other problems like some swelling etc that can easily be treated.
Moral of the story, if you see a new spider with raised height or looking weird, get the bug spray just in case it is one of these bad mothers. Neither of us dreamed about spiders which was a bonus! Just one of my dreams had a snake coming out of my mouth like a power or something.
