Tonight, after dinner, I went for a walk. What was supposed to be a short evening stroll, turned into a long evening walk. It was a good thing, as I hardly had any exercise today.
I was sitting at the stairs near a church, overlooking a hill, when I spotted a kid with a bike ascending the hill. Apparently, the climb was too steep to make it on his bike. So, instead, the kid ran up the hill with his bike next to him.
I had spotted that path upon the hill before, but never saw anyone climbing it. This time I decided to give it a try. Mainly because I was interested in what I would find on the top or what view I would have from there. I soon found out that it wasn't too steep. It was a nice climb.
This was my view from the top:
And the hill itself looked a little different. I had entered what could best be described as a burnt pine forest.
It might sound a little morbid, but it was actually pretty peaceful. Pretty and peaceful. It took me almost the entire walk ( an hour or so ) to realize that the reason why it was so quiet, was that there were no birds. Birds don't seem to like dead trees.
There were also a lot of strange looking holes in the ground. I soon realized that there used to be trees in there first.
I am seriously considering to get a pizza tomorrow, take it with me to that forest and eat it there. Burnt forest picnic. I prefer a pizza that isn't burnt though.
What about you? Have you ever walked through a burnt forest? And if so, do you have any memories on that? Feel free to share your story here.
P.S. This place might have a totally different vibe in the night, but I don't expect there to be any witches.
