Here in Costa Rica we call this plant "dormilina" - little sleeper. Also known as "sensitive plant." It's official name is mimosa pudica.
As you touch the leaves they close up and "go to sleep".
Dormilona is a a sleep aid, pain reliever, sedative, and calms the nerves. You can make a tea or tincture from the leaves to treat headache, toothache, body pain, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, etc. It is generally safe for all ages. Not to be taken with tranquilizers or sedatives.
