During my visit in Lower Austria I was able to take several nice pictures of birds there. One of these birds I managed to take pictures of is a grey heron that was fishing right infront of me. I watched it for several minutes and took several pictures. I also managed to take a picture when it was trying to swallow a fish in the first picture. It was really interesting watching this bird fishing in the shallow water for some really small fish. Probably if it went to some deeper water it would have found some bigger fish. I find it always very interesting to watch different birds and especially birds on a hunting trip.
Herons are great for this kind of birdwatching and photography since they wade in the water and wait for the right moment if a fish is swimming by. Also other wading birds are really nice to watch. But I have to admit Birds of Prey are my favorite birds to watch on their hunting trips.
