Suns win NBA draft lottery.
Despite this image being somewhat creepy, well at least the GM looks a bit creepy, it is pretty cool to see this organization win the lottery never the less:
Especially when you consider the Phoenix Suns have never won the NBA draft lottery in their 50+ year history.
This would be the Suns first time ever picking first.
It gets even more impressive when you learn that the Suns have only ever picked in the Top 3 once their 50+ year history and they have never moved up in the lottery.
Let me repeat that last part, the Phoenix Suns have never moved up in the draft lottery in their 50+ year history.
Ouch!
All that won't really matter a month from now though as they get to make the first selection in the NBA draft.
The consensus top two picks are Deandre Ayton and Luka Doncic.
It isn't clear which direction the suns are leaning currently as both fill needs for the team.
My gut says they go with Ayton because you can't teach 7'1 and 260 lbs with good athleticism.
However, Doncic may be this generation's Steve Nash, so it is tough to know for sure which will be the better piece for the suns.
All that being sad I am happy they were finally able to land a number one pick, 50 years is a long time to wait.
