Have you seen Trae Young, freshman from Oklahoma, who averege 30 points per game? His game is very similar to two time NBA champion Stephen Curry. Trae Young, also as Curry is long distance shooter and more than 50% of his shots are 3 pointers. He also makes more than 40% of them, which is amazing, because he takes more than 10 3 pointers per game. More than that, two thirds of his makes are unassisted, off the dribble, from long range and very similar to Steph Curry.
Young has a collection of dribble moves to get into the lane which is similar to Curry. He uses hesitation moves, crossovers, in-and-out dribbles, step-throughs and hang dribbles to work his man out of position and drives with his left hand enough to keep the defense honest too.
Trae is averaging decent amount of assists (9.5 per game) and almost 38% usage rate. We've simply never seen a freshman in a major conference carry this heavy a load for his offense in terms of possession usage. Add in the fact that Young is being incredibly effective on all those possessions, and it's clear that he's off to a start that is truly astonishing.
