My crocheted swatch was satisfactory, so I bagan the jacket pattern Full Metal Jacket from Couture Crochet and so far, so good. The fabric is firm, yet flexible--just right for a dressmaker suit.
The body is worked in one piece, with sleeves worked separately and sewn in. I may do fuzzy trim or I may create a braided look edging to look more Chanel-like.
For now, I am watching the pattern emerge from the variegated yarn. When color starts to pool too much in one spot, I cut yarn and switch to a different ball or "fast forward" to another colored section of the same ball. I want more of a tweed look than a striped or patchy look.
Happy Needleworkmonday to all!
