Yay it’s #NeedleWorkMonday again!! 🎉😎😃 I hope you beautiful mamas had a Fantabulous Mother’s Day! I really had a nice and relaxing time with my family. Our day went like this...church, dinner, relaxing over my sister in law’s, grabbed a cappuccino from Starbucks, spent time with my mom and then finished our String Art piece!
If you didn’t already know we have a really fun contest going on! In collaboration with , we are running a String Art Contest! Entries are due today! You can check out some of the entries that have already been submitted by looking at the resteems on my page or on
’s page. This has been so much fun already. I am looking forward to seeing all of the entries coming in today!
It’s great to know everyone that has participated had fun creating their art entries. Not only because it’s a fun art to do but because most of our participants have never attempted String Art before. So cool to be able to learn a new needle craft while trying to win prizes!! 😍 Best wishes to all of the contestants!!!
After my daughter and I completed the sample owl (from the contest announcement in above link), we wanted to try another that involved more colors and design. We decided to make this butterfly and it was a lot of fun seeing it come to life!
String Art makes great decoration pieces you can hang in your home or to give as gifts. You’ll be proud of knowing it was a piece you created that cost little to nothing. If you’ve been itching to try a needle craft I recommend you start with this one because it is pretty simple to do.
Let’s recap...
Holes punched with needle then comes the yarn...
Once you are finished with a color, tie off into a knot...
Here’s the back side so far...
We wanted to do the edging around the wings with a more unison stitch so it would be distinguished from the rest of the strings...
Done!
Here’s one more look at the back...
My daughter got bored somewhere along the way so I finished it on my own. 😄 I am thinking about getting a frame for it. I even thought of making my own by using string art around the edges. The texture of the finished piece feels so neat! I am definitely going to do one of these on wood with nails some day. But for now I have to focus back on stocking up my homesteaderscoop online store :)
I challenge everyone reading this post to try this diy String Art and share it with the community by using the #needleworkmonday tag on Monday’s or the #needlework tag throughout the week!
