Spiral Socks

A little progress with the spiral socks - one finished and the other half, there I just started with the cuff. I'll make an afterthought heel on the second so that it looks "spirally" looks compared to the first sock. So they become less and less similar - doesn't matter ;)

Ein wenig Fortschritt bei den Spiralsocken - einer fertig und der andere halb, dort habe ich gerade mit dem Bündchen angefangen. Ich werde beim zweiten eine nachträgliche Ferse machen damit auch das "spiralig" aussieht im Gegensatz zum ersten Socken. So werden sie sich immer weniger ähnlich :)

I made arrows on one picture to show where I started a new yarn. I'm already looking forward to putting on my socks. Some women from my knitting circle have promised me that they will give me leftover yarn they would have thrown away in the future.

Ich habe auf dem einen Bild Pfeile gemacht damit man sieht wo ich ein neues Garn angesetzt habe. Ich freue mich schon die Socken anzuziehen und einige Frauen aus meiner Strickrunde haben mir für die Zukunft Garnreste versprochen die sie sonst weggeworfen hätten.

Yarn Bras

What's she talking about now, some might ask. What on earth is a Yarn Bra? Well, some of you will know it when wool skeins fall apart when you've used some yarn (I think Hive account@danmaruschak experienced that if I remember some of his photos correctly). This happens especially when you pull the thread from the inside out of the ball (which is recommended because it twists the yarn less). To prevent this disintegration you have Yarn Bras.

Wovon redet sie jetzt denn schon wieder mag mancher fragen. Was um Himmels Willen ist ein Yarn Bra? Nun, einige von euch werden es kennen wenn Wollknäule auseinander fallen wenn man einiges Garn verbraucht hat (ich glaube Hive account@danmaruschak kennt das wenn ich mich korrekt erinnere an einige seiner Fotos). Das passiert besonders wenn man den Faden von innen aus dem Knäuel zieht und nicht von aussen (was empfehlenwert ist weil es das Garn weniger verdreht). Um diese Zerfallen zu verhindern gibt es Yarn Bras.

They're not for sale or if only as a bonus - I buy mine in the vegetable department of the supermarket. I also know people who use nylon socks. In any case, a skein (or a cake) of yarn stays in the right shape, you can work well with it and store it better.

Die gibt es nicht zu kaufen oder wenn nur als Dreingabe - ich kaufe meine in der Gemüseabteilung des Supermarkts. Ich kenne auch Leute die einen Nylonsocken dafür nehmen. Auf jeden Fall bleibt ein Knäuel so brav in Form, man kann gut damit arbeiten und es auch besser verstauen.
