Today I am going to show off not my work, but my late grandma's, who was amazing at pretty much any art or craft she laid her hands to. These are the quilts that I have, that she made: she made dozens more, dispersed among various family members!
Tulips, which was both of our favorite flowers. :)
Grandma dated her quilts, so this one was made in 2005.
Sunbonnet Sue, which I can't spread out for you right now because Yuan has claimed it for his nap. 😄
1993
This one I inherited after her passing.
Signed and dated! 1994
The blue and red squares one I have had since I was a kid in the 80s. Actually I don't even know if it was given to me specifically, or my parents - but it ended up on my bed, because I've always been one to sleep under a mountain of them. No date on this one.
This one also is from my childhood in the 80s, and it was always mine. I believe my sister had a matching one too. It used to have yarn - like embroidery knots? - on it throughout, but those wore out long ago. I need to make some repairs as the side as opened at one end. My sewing repair list is always a mile long! You can see some wear on Sunbonnet Sue as well, but I'm not sure how to fix that, as it's more a matter of a couple of the fabrics wearing out.
I am trying my hand at my first quilt ever, a baby quilt - and I feel a bit overwhelmed! I have a new appreciation for this work. Wish me luck!
Happy needlework Monday!
