Today I want to talk about one of the most famous Spanish film franchises: Torrente, starring and directed by Santiago Segura. These movies are known for their irreverent, exaggerated, and often politically incorrect humor, but that’s exactly what makes them so unique and memorable.
The character José Luis Torrente is a corrupt, clumsy, and selfish ex-police officer who, nonetheless, manages to make millions of viewers laugh. Each movie is full of absurd situations, crude jokes, and references to Spanish society, which, although sometimes controversial, reflect a type of humor that has defined an era of Spanish cinema.
What’s particularly interesting about Santiago Segura is that he doesn’t just play Torrente—he also writes and directs the films, giving them a unique and personal style. Watching these movies is like stepping into a world where political correctness is left aside and comedy takes liberties few dare to explore.
Personally, I love how these films can make us laugh while showing an exaggerated reflection of human flaws. They are absurd, chaotic, and sometimes a little shocking, but that’s what makes them unforgettable.

Hoy quiero hablarles de una de las sagas más famosas del cine español: Torrente, protagonizada y dirigida por Santiago Segura. Estas películas son conocidas por su humor irreverente, exagerado y muchas veces políticamente incorrecto, pero eso es justamente lo que las hace tan singulares y recordadas.
El personaje de José Luis Torrente es un ex-policía corrupto, torpe y egoísta que, sin embargo, logra sacar carcajadas a millones de espectadores. Cada película está llena de situaciones absurdas, chistes groseros y referencias a la sociedad española, que aunque puedan resultar polémicas, reflejan un tipo de humor que ha marcado toda una era del cine en España.
Lo interesante de Santiago Segura es que no solo interpreta a Torrente, sino que también escribe y dirige las películas, lo que le permite darle un estilo único y muy personal. Ver estas películas es sumergirse en un mundo donde lo políticamente correcto queda a un lado y la comedia se toma libertades que pocos se atreven a explorar.
Personalmente, me fascina cómo estas películas pueden hacernos reír mientras nos muestran un reflejo exagerado de los defectos humanos. Son absurdas, caóticas y a veces un poco chocantes, pero eso es lo que las hace inolvidables.
