I guess really my thoughts are aimed at Bitcoin and the massive infastructure, bandwidth and electricity required to mine, mining is already very expensive and has to be incredibly efficient, but the level of efficiency that could be lost due to what can only be described as a pay-to-play system, Bitcoin in particular is already having hosting/transaction problems due to the lack of capable mining/working machines taking on the ledger...
