Happy New Year!
WISHING YOU THE BEST IN 2026
The sun has finally set on 2025. Apparently American Samoa is the last inhabited land to enter the new year. It does it at 11am GMT, so 11am in London during winter. At which point, it's totally 2026 everywhere. Of course all of this is arbitrary and there's no cosmic marker that specifies this - it's a convention, but it's one most of us on the planet use now.
Having said that, there are still different calendars used, in China and Ethiopia for instance, where it's just a regular day today.
I like the concept of a new year. It represents new beginnings and a refresh of our routines. Human beings, being creatures of habit and routine, need this had break sometimes to reset and snap out of some of the aforementioned routines, some of which may be detrimental. There's something about a new beginning that lends that extra motivation to making change. This is why many make new year resolutions, even though most of said resolutions are broken within the first week of the year 😅
One of my goals for 2026 is to hit things head-on and reduce my tendency to procrastinate. I think I missed a few big chances in the past year due to my procrastination habit. I've already started by doing my tax returns without waiting, as I usually would, till the deadline of January 31 😅
I'm also planning to wake up earlier in the day and get work done earlier. Some of the most successful people in the world do this. That is going to be a bit of a challenge for me since I'm a night owl. Luckily the nights are still long so maybe I'll still feel like a night owl during the small hours of the morning.
Anyhow I wish you guys all the best this year and beyond.
Peace & Love,
Adé
