He did help make the economy better, which I mentioned in my post. So I am sure there is some support for him because of that. And feel free to send a link to prove that point about him disturbing the businesses of old european families, I have not read about that point much so I'm not saying you're wrong but I would be curious to read about it.
The thing with Putin is that there is no denying that he is not exactly your ideal democrat leader. The guy has been in power for think nearly 20 years now. And what's more so many of his rivals over the years who have tried to have challenged him have either been "mysteriously killed" or have fled the country out of fear of being assassinated.
So I agree with you Putin picked up Russia up from the ground especially after Yeltsin's laughable career but he is becoming a bit totalitarian.
