When I look at this photo, I don't just see myself as a teacher but a motherly figure to my students, wanting them to be a future leaders, artists, doctors and professionals someday. Young people who will carry out Bicolano spirit out into the world. My students keep me grounded in my purpose as an educator, they reminded that the best journey as a teacher are making them grow and learn every step of the way.
I should say that Filipino Teachers are so dedicated when it comes to work, eventhough being a teacher is difficult and the salary is not enough, when you see the faces of those who want to learn, your perspective on life changes, You still do your best to be part of their future success.
Teachers in the Philippines are struggling specially since salaries are not high unlike in other countries, because what Filipino teachers earn is almost 10% of what teachers make abroad, but Filipino teachers still thrive to teach in the Philippines, because as a family oriented Filipino, as part of the culture, it keeps them close to their families, not only that teachers have big heart for educating and being part of the success of Filipino youth, for they wish that one day the children will be the hope of the fatherland as Jose Rizal quoted.
