Hello everyone. Let me start with a secondary introductory post: I'm Gabriel Mihalcea (aka lovelyscape), I live in the UK, Hastings, and I joined PeakD and Hive Network in December 2021. It's been a month since I created my account and explored the web up and down in order to learn as much as possible about this "new" decentralized system (new for me) I had never worked on before.
I had to learn everything from scratch. From understanding the HP, curation, posting resources, voting power to using tags properly, the community guidelines, using the Hive Keychain, witnesses and proxy (still a lot to dig in about that)
But if you don't want to read my journey so far here, let me go for a "TLDR" - I have a very positive impression of PeakD, and I will, for sure, dedicate my time and effort here, and I am in for the long run.
As anyone confused about how things work around here, firstly, I depleted my resource credit with some posts and no introduction, when it was brought to my attention that it's common for an introduction post and to confirm that my work (photography) is mine. I had rushed my head in without putting much thought at first. I had to wait for nearly two days for a simple reply, but tensely, I managed, and people understood me.
I want to especially thank a few people, firstly to and
, for delegating me some HP to get me started, and thank you as well to
,
and
for your help to get me started here and to understand the very basics.
I have a lot to learn. And I will take my steps slowly here because I don't want to rush things, for once in my life :). I've made mistakes, for sure, unintentionally, but I've learned from my mistakes. There are more than a few things I've learned here, and I put in practice, a lot more recently though, thanks again to , who helped me understand a few things and pointed out that there actually is a place to learn a few (more than a few things) -
.
What I've learned so far:
Engagement is one of the most important things here on PeakD. We are a vast community, and we must support each other. It's good to add value to someone's post, appreciate their work and effort, and not engage blindly.
Publishing should be limited to 6-10 times a week, and I will limit my publishing to once a day - One thing I didn't know until recently, but publishing too often is "skimming the pool". I am not here for that, and it was never my intention, as it never will be.
Set the reward for each post to 100% Power-Up if you are new here (100% Hive Power) - Every current pending reward is going to be converted to Hive token and used to power up, and from this post on, for the next half year (until the end of June), my every post is going to be 100% Hive Power only - I am here for the long term, not to skin some quick money. - Just to put this ahead.
Never vote your own posts - Not that you cannot, but it is unethical. One mistake I've made in the past but learned from it.
Is better to put all my time and effort into a super lovely and complex post rather than multiple small ones. - People tend to appreciate more your work when you put some effort into it.
Read community guidelines before publishing into a community, use the correct tags only, and accept any constructive feedbacks - They are there to help you and not to put you down.
And most important of all, publish original content only. I am a photographer, and I often tend to publish into photography based communities, but not limited to. I always post my own content, and although I have an Unsplash profile where I share my portfolio for free with others to use (as my photographs can be found on the internet), I publish my own content. Always, no exception. It's imperative to add value to a post that is your own and not be deceitful here, as it will not take you anywhere.
Taking this a bit further, here is my Introduction post on PeakD (I have to edit some dead links though) and this is my simple Personal Landing Page ((on my website) to connect and confirm my work), for anyone willing to do a 'background check' on me :)
- I also added
permanently as a 5% beneficiary to all my posts in order to support the network even more - I hope I am doing it right.
Conclusion
So, to conclude this, I am super impressed by PeakD and the Hive Network, and although I have never worked on any decentralized networks before, I am here for the long run, and you will probably see me around.
I will always try my best to be fair and proper, and if I make any mistakes around, I probably do it unwillingly, don't hesitate to point it out, please.
I am delighted to have met each of you here and for this fantastic community. My partner, , also joined PeakD by my recommendation; she is also at the very beginning but willing to learn, and I will try my best to help her.
Thank you, everyone, for all your help and effort to help me. I am grateful and always will be. Now is the time for me to finish this post and share it with you.
p.s. The image from the top (to credit:) is mine. I made it out of a few photographs I own
I wish you all the best, and I hope to see you around. Stay safe and take care
