Greetings Steemit Readers!
I have been blogging at WordPress since Oct, give or take. My focus has been on teaching women about Prepping and showing them it's not just something men can do. I think I'll stick with that here. It's worked so far!! 😀
I'll start with the basics, again. That is; what's "prepping"??! Prepping is short/slang for "preparing". I'm sure there's an etymology for the term, but I don't think it'll add any real understanding to this post. What does it really matter where the word came from or first usage of it??
Prepping is more than the act of "preparing" for something, when you make preparations you prepare and then you're done and just waiting for the event. Prepping is a lifestyle, you live it. Your thinking changes and, from that, your actions. You walk into a store; assess all the people for potential threats to you; you find all the exits and mentally map out all routes to them; most of your purchases of food can be stored long-term; tools are high quality that will last for decades. We do own firearms, know the safe use of them and practice using them regularly. Some Preppers (the name for the people who prep) have "Bug Out" sites and know several different routes to get there. This site is so they can leave their homes in case the situation there makes it too dangerous to stay, like violent riots. Some have formed groups with friends or neighbors and practice almost para-military style drills.
Some Preppers have just stocked up on a few days worth of food and water because they feel things aren't as grand as their governments are telling them they are.
There are no hard and fast rules on who can call themselves "Prepper". At least none I know of anyway.
Ok, that's all for now, let's see what kind of interest this generates...
