Pardon me, as a newbie what's next?

I joined steemit a couple of hours ago and that was after being crazily patient for about a week while steemit administrators carried out some verification exercise to determine if I was a robot, an imposter or possibly a half baked Indian-Italian french meat-pie : ). To be sincere to my audience, I probably joined steemit because of the financial benefits attached to creating even a half-decent post and so did a host of you all probably at first until it became second-place, and that's so fundamentally right, why not get paid doing something you're passionate about? Most of us who've been on social media sites like Facebook and twitter can totally relate, you spend a lot of time and effort thinking about, creating and sharing content, making lots of friends ranging from family to celebrities and your bank account balance still remains dormant
yet these sites use your preferences, likes and dislikes to their own financial advantage. My steemit best-friend Hive account@gjoeohere cashed out recently and it spiked my emotions, it felt unreal I must add. It also made me sit-up and take note as well as introducing a couple of talented friends to join the community. The community as I have observed doesn't just do a good job in helping to find and unearth the creative talents in writing, music, photography etc. it gives you the opportunity to express yourself and its really cool.

So, what next? That's the question on every new steemian's mind and i'm not afraid to ask it, there's a lot of "to-knows" that's not easily accessible. Asides writing great content, how do you stand out to ensure your content is resteemed and upvoted? What kind of content does the community appreciate better, is it more of insights on happenings on the globe or on a personal level, science related writings, friendly banter or something else? is it better to have a niche here? how do you generate more traffic for your posts, are there groups one can be introduced to within the community that could be of help? I'm making this post to get audience valuable response as pertaining to not just what's expected of a newbie but inclusively how to be ahead of the curve because one can't help but give a jealous glance at some posts that's mostly found at the trending section of the site having a couple of non-zero digits beside the dollar sign at the bottom of a seasoned or popular writer's posts (I really wish not to sound as a gold digger, but this is the reality of what's factual) or don't you have same thoughts? I intend to create a post from information gleaned from the comments section so the upcoming steemians won't be so lost when the extacy of joining steemit cools off and the dust finally settles on them. For now do me well to assist this particular newbie (yourboo) in anyway possible : ). Cheers. #yourboo
