BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) - The Islamic State (ISIS) launched a powerful counter-assault in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate on Wednesday.
ISIS began the assault by storming the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions near the Awiraz Dam, which is located east of the T-3 Pumping Station.
Despite the intensity of the counter-assault, the Islamic State was unable to regain any ground they lost to the Syrian Arab Army in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.
The Islamic State's counter-assault comes just 48 hours after their forces lost the entire Iraqi border region near the T-2 Pumping Station in southern Deir Ezzor.
The Syrian Arab Army is currently attempting to clear the remaining desert areas that still have an Islamic State presence.
