BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 A.M.) - The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) could be integrated into the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the near future, the spokesperson for the SDF told the AFP last week.
Speaking to the AFP News Agency, the spokesperson for the SDF, Redur Khalil, said that the Syrian Democratic Forces could be integrated into the Syrian Arab Army once an agreement is established between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and Damascus.
Khalil told the AFP that a deal between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Council is 'inevitable, adding that "reaching a solution between the autonomous administration and the Syrian government is inevitable because our areas are part of Syria."
"Negotiations are ongoing with the government to reach a final formulation for administering the city of Manbij," Khalil told AFP, adding that talks had shown "positive signs”.
Concerning the future of the armed forces of the SDF and other Kurdish fighters, Khalil said the talks have not been finalized yet.
"The tasks of these forces could change, but we will not withdraw from our territory," Khalil said, adding that the Kurdish fighters could be integrated into the Syrian army.
