BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:50 P.M.) - The St. Tekla Orthodox Church in the ancient city of Ma'aloula will be fully restored within a month, the religious leader Father Elias told journalists this morning.
"Everything was destroyed; we immediately began to recover, and now everything is ready," Father Elias told journalists.
"We only have to bring furniture and in a month or so, the nuns of the monastery will be able to return to their abode," he said.
According to the clergyman, immediately after that, divine services will begin in the church. They will be held daily.
"It's very important for this small town to restore everything that was destroyed because they live at the expense of pilgrims, and at the expense of tourists," he continued.
Ma'aloula was liberated in April 2014 after it was held by militant groups for five months.
The city's nuns were kidnapped by the rebel forces and were later released in exchange for the relatives of the militants.
