BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:20 A.M.) - The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) scored a major advance in east Syria, yesterday, seizing several areas from the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists.
Backed by US and French airstrikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to more than ten kilometers squared worth of territory from the Islamic State in southeastern Al-Hasakah.
The SDF was able to make this major advance in southeast Al-Hasakah after the Islamic State's first line of defense crumbled on Wednesday morning.
Now, with limited resources and very little ground between their fighters and the SDF, ISIS will not likely hold onto this Iraqi border region in the coming days.
Furthermore, the Islamic State typically retreats to the Al-Hasakah desert when they are coming under attack by the Coalition forces.
ISIS will likely retreat to the desert in the next week, as the Coalition's attack is going to intensify.
