A twenty-three-year-old delivery driver from Oswego, New York, was simply doing her job and delivering food one evening when she walked up to a home that had its front door wide open. When arriving in front of the door, which was open, she found a fully naked man lying on the couch, not moving. She freaked out and decided to take a video of him because to exposed him. After taking a short video, she posted it on TikTok, claiming to feel violated and threatened and she received a significant amount of attention and commentary on her TikTok account. Comments ranged from sympathy for the delivery driver to disparaging the man.
However, once police were involved, the circumstances changed rather quickly. The police indicated that the man was unconscious on his couch because he had been drinking and he had no idea the driver was present obviously. The police also indicated that the driver recorded the man without his consent and therefore engaged in illegal surveillance. As a result, instead of the man being charged, the driver faces numerous legal charges for unlawful surveillance and improper sharing of the video. Consequently, the delivery service terminated the driver's account and she posted subsequent videos complaining of being silenced and of people not understanding her actions.
She has one court appearance in the past; however, another court date occurs in December. On various public forums, people continue to discuss the incident and whether it was poorly handled due to a lack of forethought on her part or rather she was right, and will continue to support her until she is proven guilty. Now, she can be imprisoned as a result of this situation, which is quite shocking.
