All fans of astronomy and the outer space are excited the upcoming Blood Moon that will occur on July 27. What makes this extraordinary event even more special is the fact that it will actually be the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century!

This spectacular phenomenon will only be visible to observers in certain parts of the world, including Central Europe so Prague will be a good location for that. If you happen to be in the Czech capital on that day, you should start looking at the sky at 8:24 P.M. as that is when the eclipse will begin. It should last until about 8:47 P.M.
The cool thing about observing the lunar eclipse is that you do not even need any special equipment for that - the Blood Moon will be visible to the naked eye. And why is this phenomenon called the Blood Moon? Because the moon turns red or reddish brown instead of going completely dark. It happens because some of the sunlight going through our planet´s atmosphere is bent around the edges and falls right onto the Moon's surface, creating the red hue.
