It has been years since the Fukushima disaster took place and yet they are still dealing with the problem even today.
There has been the waste plan of dumping it into the ocean which hasn't sit well with many, angering people around the world about what potential consequence this might have for taking to dumping that nuclear waste into the water.
Is this the best option available to them?
Japan's plan to dump it into the ocean has recently been approved and that has brought the event to light once again that had such devastating consequences even many years later.
It looks like they will be discharging over 1 million cubic meters of treated wastewater into the ocean to get rid of it and the UN energy watchdog said this apparently complies with safety standards, making it a reasonable plan to consider.
Best option? Cheapest? Fastest?
Of course dumping it into the ocean might obviously be the most cost effective and fastest solution available. What else are they left with? The disaster cleanup is still ongoing with efforts trying to be made to limit radioactive contamination. The waste had been piling up as those cleaning efforts went on and they need somewhere to put it, the ocean seems where it will end up despite concerns for others and calls for further consideration of possible alternatives to the problem.
