I'm no fan of Fauci or really the way that basically every country in the world has handled a virus that has a super high survival rate. I don't want to debate that either. I've heard enough. I, like you, have no choice but to comply with what the government overlords tell us we have to do under threat of violence.
I'm not here to talk about any of that, I'm here to talk about dumb news or rather the totally biased way in which certain media outlets handle their reporting.
Today's absurd reporting comes from frequent offender on the Conservative side of things: The Liberty Daily. They are not a very big operation and it kind of shows just in how sloppy their website is. It looks like someone built this with a early 2000's computer using FrontPage and host it for free at an Angelfire URL (remember those?)
Their headlines are all pretty terrible and they make links to articles that mostly were written by other people. If you find an article that they actually wrote get ready for some fun because they word all of their op-ed pieces like a pissed off teenager who doesn't really understand what they are arguing about.
Their most recent articles is entitled "Fascist Fear Fuhrer Fauci Cancels Christmas: ‘Don’t Travel; Don’t Congregate Together’" I had to have a look at this article because it seems like someone is having a day where they try to find all the bad words that start with "F" without using the best one.
The article that this link travels to is a Breitbart article so while it does for the most part contain negative information about Fauci it doesn't go as far as The Liberty Daily does with their wording. I am VERY aware of the fact that Breitbart leans very hard right but it was actually surprising to me that even though they are saying essentially that Fauci says to "not travel" they at least had the journalistic integrity to include the man's entire quote instead of picking and choosing parts of it in order to make his statement seem as bad as possible.
In Fauci's interview he does encourage people to travel and congregate as little as possible but he is not suggesting that nobody do so.
To the best of our capabilities we should avoid travel and avoid congregate settings.
There was a lot more to it than that and he at no time suggests that there is going to be a travel restriction or even that he is going to recommend that people be penalized for getting together in large groups. The article and the way that Liberty Daily words it would suggest to those who are too stupid / lazy to actually read articles that he is making some sort of decree disallowing Christmas gatherings. It's rather important to realize that even if he was making this sort of statement (which he isn't) he doesn't have the authority to make something of that nature happen anyway.
I think they’re going to have to make individual decisions
That is what his real words were and Liberty Daily knows this but choose to make terrible headlines about this and just about everything else on their site as well.
I don't know how many people actually take Liberty Daily to heart, I hope not very many. To me, the wording and headlines on that site are so egregious that I really wouldn't be surprised if the website is actually managed by liberals who are trying to make right-leaning news sources look bad.
