I rarely look at sports news because while I know that this doesn't say much about me as a man, I don't really care for them very much. But the other day I was perusing OAN (One America News) looking for basically any political news that isn't left-leaning seeing as how even Fox seems to have been taken over by leftists, when I said "what the hell, let's go have a look at sports" only to encounter this as their top story.
I searched and searched and searched for "uneaten" being a term in football or really any sport at all and could only come up with the hot dog eating contest that takes place at Nathan's on Coney Island in New York each year.
I read the entire article despite the fact that I really don't care a great deal about who wins in football and I couldn't fine any reference to the term that appears in the headline anywhere else on the page.
I did find this though
as the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers eked out a 24-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, to remain unbeaten.
There you go guys! Well done! At least you got it right on the second pass (pun intended.) I also like the image they chose because it makes the QB appear as though he is like "fuck this game man, i'm just gonna chuck the ball straight up in the air and see what happens."
This is yet another example of how we have allowed technology to replace our brains a little bit too much in every aspect of our lives. "uneaten" is a word after all so since there were no squiggly little red lines under the headline, the editor was probably thinking "yep, looks good to me, great work!" as he passed it on for it to be published.
As I have mentioned many times before, I spent a year as an editor for a college newspaper that had a circulation of about 30,000 papers a week. We intentionally had no grammar and spelling assistance during our training in order to hone our skills so that we would be able to find these sorts of things on our own - I think these days that almost no one actually uses their brains when publishing but instead relies on tech to do everything for them.
I don't really have much of an opinion of OAN as a network because I don't pay them much mind since they are basically just an extension of the Republican party (don't get the wrong idea, I have nothing against Republicans it's just that the bias of everyone is so easily identified these days.)
So I guess you could say that while I am very happy that the Steelers didn't get subjected to cannibalism for a near loss, the fact that this headline made it to the internet past what I have to presume was multiple sets of eyes qualifies OAN to be put into the ever growing stack of
