Well, the anti-gunners are at it again, and this time, what they are doing seem to not only violate the 2nd Amendment, but also and just as scary, the 4th Amendment. Apparently the law is based on a California that went into affect on 2014. I'm more than a bit disappointed that the co-sponsor of the bill, Sen. Brian Boquist(R-Dallas) is a freaking republican...well, obviously it's in name only (RINO).
NRA-ILA reports that the bill creates a "Extreme Risk Protection Order" (ERPO). This order can be obtained by a law enforcement officer, family member, or even a roommate to can request an ex parte order that could deprive people of their 2nd amendment rights, and the hearing can be held without the persons knowledge.
What has happened to due process in this country, this is third world dictator crap here.
Imagine someone you have some type of relationship gets pissed off and get's the ex parte order. If the order is granted, you have 24 hours to surrender not only your guns, but any deadly weapons, PLUS your concealed handgun license. It appears that the law is far to broad. What else would constitute a deadly weapon? Your kitchen knives? Your kids baseball bat? How about that cast iron skillet you use to cook cornbread, or even YOUR CAR!
Breitbart has an article that's a bit more
These laws are ripe for abuse not only by law enforcement, but anyone you allow into your life that might take vengeance on you.
I thank God that I live in Louisiana...this would never pass here...
