The other day I came across a video on the Law&Crime Network channel on YouTube. I'm not a major fan of that same YouTube channel. However, this one news story caught my attention. A 19-year-old daycare worker got caught kissing a 5-year-old girl on the lips multiple times. Below is the video about it.
A 19-Year-Old Man Was Arrested For Kissing A 5-Year-Old Girl On The Lips More Than Once
So here we have a man over the legal age of majority making moves on a defenseless, little girl whom he is supposed to be caring for and protecting. He was caught with pornographic contraband on his computer that showed small children in sexually explicit images.
This same young man is about as guilty as guilty gets for sex crimes against children. All right. I get it. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and everyone is entitled to a fair trial; but you get what I mean. We can only hope that he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. You have to question if the daycare center even performed any kind of background check on him.
I guess the downside of this same suspect being so young is that if he committed sex crimes against small children when he was still a minor, then his police record would likely have been expunged on his eighteenth birthday. I'm not one hundred percent sure about how the laws pertaining to juvenile police records work in Ohio.
Now, here is the point that I'd like to make about this news story. Law-enforcement officials waste so much time and tax dollars, chasing after 18- and 19-year-old men who perhaps may be dating a 14- or 15-year-old girl. Police get eager to participate in online sex-sting operations that are teenage-pregnancy-prevention campaigns at best rather than in genuine efforts to stop child molestation and sex crimes against children.
If there are 18- and 19-year-old men committing heinous sex crimes against 5-year-old girls, why do the authorities need to be investigating liaisons in which a teenage adult man and a teenage minor girl are each slightly on opposite sides of the legal age line? A police officer's time and the taxpayers' money could be better spent going after teenage adult men like the one in the news story above.
What Chris Hansen has done for a living all these years is merely an attempt to sensationalize on Americans' insecurities over teenage girls having sex at young ages with partners outside their own peer circles. He hasn't been saving anyone from harm. There are not even any victims involved in his online sex-sting operations except for the young men that he entraps.
In television interviews, Mr. Hansen has flapped his jaws about how he feels it's important that he entraps 18- and 19-year-old young men who may show a non-Platonic interest in adolescent girls between 13 and 15 years of age. However, those young men are not a threat to society. The former 19-year-old daycare worker in the video above is.
So what if a 14-year-old girl has her parents fooled into believing that her 19-year-old boyfriend is only 15 years old? If something bad is going to happen to her in a relationship with a man five years older than her, then it's going to happen to her with a boy her own age anyhow. However, when a 19-year-old man is kissing a 5-year-old girl on the lips and taking every opportunity to be alone with her, you have to suspect that his intentions are less than wholesome, to say the least.
A 14-year-old girl can back out of a relationship with an older boyfriend any time that she wishes to do so. In many countries, a 14-year-old girl is considered to be a consenting adult under their laws.
On the other hand, a 5-year-old girl has no idea what a 19-year-old man is planning to do to her once he starts engaging in questionable behavior with her. That 19-year-old man can do a significant amount of damage to that little girl. A 5-year-old girl cannot consent to anything depraved that a 19-year-old man does to her, because she doesn't have the ability to attain a full understanding of what is being done to her other than that it feels horrible once it happens.
Our criminal justice system needs to get out of its make-believe world of age-appropriate perfection and wholesome purity and do a reality check on what the real crimes against children involve. While police officials are entrapping adult men in online sex-sting operations for attempting to hook up with teenage minors that don't even exist, real child molesters and predatory pedophiles are sexually victimizing small children under 11 years old that are in vulnerable positions.
American statutory-rape laws pertaining to teenage minors are not really helping anyone other than angry parents that want revenge against a college student who got their 15-year-old girl daughter pregnant unintentionally. Meanwhile, there are adult men and women of all ages in positions of trust and authority that are preying on small children in daycare centers and the likes, and child molesters are getting away with it inasmuch as they know that nobody is watching them. It needs to stop.
So what if John Walsh doesn't differentiate between child molesters that prey on toddlers and young adult men in college that date teenage girls in high school and even middle school? Like Chris Hansen and Oprah Winfrey, he's an out-of-touch baby boomer that cannot get all his facts straight about child predation and pedophilia. These three people have their heads in the clouds.
