Hello dear Steemians and blog readers,
yesterday I have read a news article about a very rare shark sightening in the south of Mallorca: Since about 30 years there was no white shark seen in this area and now a white shark was spotted near the island Cabrera in the south of Mallorca!
The shark was over 5 meters in length and animal researchers are thinking that there is a independent population in the Mediterranean Sea. I think this is happening because of the brutal shark hunting all over the world and the overfishing, so that the smart animals are searching for new areas to have a saver life.
I hope such news about white shark sightenings will not cause in panic for the tourists, because they are not attacking people without a reason and if you are taking a look at shark attack stats all over the world, you can see that it is more dangerous to drive a car, or even the chance to get hitted by a flash is higher as getting attacked by a shark for example.

I love sharks and many of you already know that I'm enjoying to swim & dive with them very much too!
Here you can watch one of my personal diving videos togehter with sharks on my Youtube channel:
Ok, maybe I wouldn't be so happy when I'm meeting a white shark when I'm in the water, but I would know that even a white shark would not just attack without a reason. One reason why white sharks can attach humans is because they are feeded by humans for tourist attractions and so they are training the sharks that meetings with humans means eating for them.
In addition they are loosing their natural hunting instinct and humans are not on the food list for sharks. One proof for it is, that even the most happened shark attacks were not deadly and only bites, sharks are really not eating humans.
We have to respect the sharks & their natural living places and they will respect us, as they always do. As a diver I can tell you that it is very rare that you see a shark underwater and even if you have the luck to see one or more sharks, they are away very fast, because they are afraid of us! 👌
