Dog meat sold to hotels in Vijayawada

The people of Krishna district are in a state of shock over the news of the sale of dog meat in the name of forest antelope meat.

Vijayawada: The Vijayawada police has taken two persons into custody, on charges of selling dog meat to restaurants in G. Konduru and Mylavaram. The Krishna district collector has ordered the Vijayawada revenue divisional officer to find out the facts regarding the sale of dog meat. Collector, B. Lakshmikantham said the food safety officer had been directed to file a case with the police immediately, keeping in mind public safety.
The RDO would conduct an inquiry and submit a detailed report in this regard, as per Mr. Lakshmikantham. The people of Krishna district are in a state of shock over the news of the sale of dog meat in the name of forest antelope meat. On Saturday G. Konduru sub-inspector Rajesh arrested Katta Adinarayana and Segu Lakshmanrao on charges of selling dog meat by calling it forest antelope meat. The accused belongs to Koduru of G. Konduru mandal. The accused used to first kill the street dogs, then remove the heads and skins and put up the meat for sale.
