Jakarta - Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) noted there are 434 earthquakes that struck Indonesia during January to February 2018. The magnitude of the earthquake that occurred also varied, ranging from 4-7 Richter scale (SR).
Head of Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rudy Suhendar specifies that as many as 381 earthquakes occurred in the western region as many as 105 times and 276 in the east with magnitude earthquake 4-4.9 SR. Then, 48 earthquakes of which occurred in the western region 11 times and 37 times in the eastern region with magnitude 5-5.9 SR.
Furthermore, 4 events with details in the west are once in the west and three times in the eastern region with the magnitude 6-6.9 SR. Then, one incident in the eastern region of Indonesia was 7 SR and as many as three earthquakes damaged three regions, including Lebak banten, Pidie, and Boven Digoel.
"We report that this earthquake has occurred in January-February there are 434 incidents," Rudy said in ESDM Ministry, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3/2018).
In addition, during January-February 2018 also recorded there are 69 volcanic activity in Indonesia. Of these, four of them experienced eruptions, including Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra 126 times, Gunung Agung in Bali 15 times, Mount Dukono in North Maluku 144 times, and Gunung Ibu in North Maluku 2,629 times.
"Volcanic activity in two months makes 56,207 people evacuate," said Rudy.
In the first two months of 2018 there were also 252 land movements. Of these, 84 of them are landslides in 25 districts / cities. This natural disaster caused 555 houses / buildings damaged, 54 people died, and 4,512 people evacuated.
