Bloomberg reported on Thursday through unidentified sources about the separation of Katerina Tikhonova (Vladimir Putin's daughter) and Kirill Shamalov. According to sources, Zhanna Volkova, a Moscow-born London socialite is reported to be the new girlfriend of Mr Shamalov. A respected Russian business newspaper, Vedomosti also published a Facebook screenshot of the new couple.
Though this news has not been publicly confirmed, but 32-year businessman Kirill Shamalov will definitely loose half of his fortune after this divorce. After his marriage in 2013 his assets rose to $2 billion in shares and he became the deputy chief executive at Sibur. Later on he bought an additional 17 percent share with a loan from the state-owned Gazprombank.
The sources said those ownership privileges will end with the marriage. Though Mr Shamalov sold off his 21.3 percent share in Sibur but he will still remain among the Russia’s wealthy business elite due mainly to the 3.9 percent of Sibur he still owns which has $800 million worth.
