As you likely already know, Hurricane Harvey slammed into the coast of Texas on Friday as a Category 4 hurricane. Multiple deaths and injuries have been reported, and the state is bracing for the worst as rains are expected to continue for at least two days. Some estimates for the coming days are as high as 40" of rain, totals which could put Houston underwater.
As a resident of Houston, I can't tell you how crazy this experience has been. My girlfriend and I evacuated to Austin from our house in southeast Houston, which now has water up to the middle of the walls some neighbors have told us. Please everyone, keep Texas in your prayers. This storm is going to continue to drop record amounts of rain in the state, and widespread flooding is expected to occur over the next week. FEMA has said that it will likely "be there for years", and that Houston will have a long road to recovery.
To any other Texan steemians: Please be safe. Property can be replaced, but your life cant.
