There are a lot of hobby farms, folks that keep interesting pets, and pig fanciers in the world. There is no reason that these species are doomed to extinction. If you have interest, please see about getting some breeding stock. These are as easy to keep as ordinary domestic pigs AFAIK, but novel and quite striking in appearance.
This is just a PSA that I hope will alert someone to an opportunity to help preserve biodiversity. These unique species' endangered on their island homes are likely to be pretty popular for folks that keep exotics, and novel for folks that might instead have a pot-bellied pet. The pigmy hog from India is also endangered. Take a look, and if you can keep a herd, you might be the difference between life and extinction for these beautiful animals.
