Snowden revealed that the USG was surveilling millions of Americans, contrary to law, and to their sworn statements to Congress and the American people.
One of the worst aspects of the Patriot Act was the institution of various such programs that enabled egregious spying around the world, and not only of potential terrorists, but anybody they damn well wanted to, including you, and almost certainly me.
While Congress undertook various feeble attempts to look like it was in charge of the spies, none of the actions they undertook was anything substantial, or amounted to more than security theater. Over and over, stories of criminal violations of even the weak pretenses at oversight Congress enacted have surfaced, with such poor impulse control at spy agencies that employees and contractors were so often caught surveilling exes, spouses, and people they had romantic interest in that they gave it a nick name, 'Love ins'.
Now the WSJ states that the NSA is considering ending the program because it is of little value. Not only is it almost blatantly obvious that very few Americans would provide actionable intelligence when spied on, but I find this very insulting.
The agencies in question, like the NSA, CIA, FBI, and all the other creepy stalkers, have for more than a decade had access to the cameras and microphones on our phones, our TVs, and our computers. The quantity of naked pictures of Americans in various states of arousal isn't even estimable, and I, for one, am incensed that they find pictures of my dick 'of little value'.
Anyway, long decades after Operation Mockingbird became public knowledge, the infiltration of American MSM was essentially complete. Every media outlet of note was essentially turned into a mouthpiece of corrupt spy agencies that were most of the coke, heroin, and sex slave smugglers in the world. Then Obama made it worse, and actually legalized USG propagandizing in American media - and the news became the enemedia.
Now we have obvious pushes by the media to make our children into transexuals before they even enter school, import an unending stream of MS13 illegal immigrants, and give up any means of defending ourselves from violent thugs. It is noteworthy that in the UK, you can't even buy spoons today without showing ID.
So, all these government agencies are proved to be serial liars, never once having been shown to tell the truth about their surveillance of honest Americans. The media is no less dishonest, constantly and repeatedly shown to fake stories, even trying to use the term 'fake news' to discredit independent journalists - like you and me - but only to have the term bounce off us and stick to them. Further, the 2013 NDAA that became law under Obama is still operational, so we can be sure that government propaganda is still being fed us today.
How in the hell can we be expected to believe they are going to not spy on us anymore?
I can't even... literally even.
