During the first years of his government, president hugo chávez would often speak of taking Venezuela to the "sea of happiness" Cuban citizens were already experiencing (meaning happiness and prosperity). We know that Cuban citizens are not happy nor do they live in a prosperous country. However, president chávez was extremely popular and people started to repeat his words in awe and hope without giving too much of a thought to the reality of life in Cuba.
That phrase took on an ironic turn with the recent news of a shipwreck near the coast of Curacao, which claimed the lives of 4 Venezuelan men and women who left the country on a raft, likely trying to escape the enormous economic crisis wrecking the nation.
Thus, this caricature is named "Sea of happiness 2". The first one was Venezuela, which sunk as well.
