So long 2021... In the greater scheme of things 2021 was a good year for me. Earlier today I passed a TV in the house playing a news broadcast and the announcer or show host was talking about how many people were glad to see 2021 in their rear view mirror. He even went so far to call 2021 a continuation of the terrible year that was 2020. I stopped for a moment and listened, it only took a moment of contemplation to realize 2021 probably was a terrible year for a lot of people. For the average person that isn't involved in the stock market or investing in crypto, 2021 probably was a crap year filled with political drama, covid restrictions, and everything else that comes along with those things. I don't want to comment too much on that stuff. I'm just saying I could see how a lot of people could feel that way about the year in review.
Let's face it, these problems affect us all and seem to be universal issues throughout the world. Corrupt, shady politicians aren't just running America, it's a worldwide phenomena. Covid restrictions seem to affect us all globally, some places more than others. Inflation is hitting the poor and middle classes just about everywhere. Supply chain issues are affecting store shelves and the items we rely on. On a global level, I could see how the average person just trying to get by might not be looking at the world through rose colored glasses right now. Just saying... What a world!
I'm more of an optimist. Even in the worst of situations I try to find the beauty and joy in it all. At the very least, I try to keep things light hearted even when everyone around me seems miserable. It's just who I am. I'm also incredibly fortunate to be involved in the crypto space and the Hive community.
Over the last couple years I've spent a lot of time online. The crypto community is pretty light hearted for the most part. We don't seem to take much seriously and meme our way out of every terrible situation. We can joke with freinds, find common interests and views, share stories through social media, and ride the incredible bull market that was both crypto and Wall St, all while watching the world burn comfortably from high back leather office chairs through the LED glow of computer monitors with two fingers of a decent scotch or bourbon in our hand. Truly, a glorious time to be alive. JK SMH
For me, 2021 was about the UniSwap airdrop and the bull market of both Wall St and crypto. It was about cleaning up a lot of my mess from the 2018 crash. It was about new motorcycles, guitars, and getting my travel plans finally in order. It was another year of financial freedom thanks to being involved in cryptocurrency. Hive and Splinterlands also played a HUGE part in the success of 2021 for me. I feel truly blessed and thankful to not only be involved in crypto, but also this great community here on Hive.
I can only speak for myself, but it's easy to get caught up in the fantasy world that is crypto. I mean, come on, some of us are making life changing money trading jpegs and gifs as NFTs. DeFi, staking, nodes, yield farming, the list just goes on and on. At some point it almost seems unreal.
In the greater scheme of things, we are the lucky ones. We have a community for support. We have financial security (at least for the time being). We have a means to an end. We have hope... WAGMI, the rally cry of 2021 for the crypto community. That's really some very strong, positive and powerful stuff! Talk about a support network when everyone ends thier messages and posts with "We're All Going To Make It!"
It's like a constant reminder that it's OK, hang in there, lifes good, I got this and so do you! WAGMI
I feel so blessed to a be a part of all this. I don't think a day goes by that someone in this space doesn't affect me in a positive way. A pleasant comment or a funny meme that makes you smile. Not to sound cultish but the crypto community as a whole is almost like a massive online family. We joke, we laugh, we tell each other our problems, our hopes, and our dreams.
Sure it's not all rainbows and unicorns and we have our fair share of jerks too, but through the noise we find each other, support each other, learn from each other, and get through a lot of lifes difficult times together.
Life's difficult. The world is far from a perfect place right now. For many of us, friends, family and neighbors IRL are going through difficult times. We are so lucky to have the support network we have here on Hive and through the crypto community as a whole. Words can't describe how grateful I am for every person I interact with here on Hive and throughout the community. I've met so many great people from all over the world and words can't describe how thankful I am for every one of you. YES YOU, the person reading this. Thank you for being part of this great journey.
You Are Awesome!
IDK, 2021 is coming to a close. I just wanted to take a moment and share some thoughts, let everyone know how much they really are appreciated, and how thankful I am to be able to share this journey with each and everyone of you. The world continues to grow ever more complicated and it doesn't look like we're changing direction any time soon. Thank you for being a part of my support network and bringing happiness into my life.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, prosperous 2022...
So long 2021 and see you all in 2022!
