Hey everyone, I just had the most amazing New Year's Eve, and I can't wait to share all the joy and traditions that made it so special!
Here in the Philippines, New Year's Eve is a big deal. It's not just about welcoming the upcoming year but also about family, traditions, and welcoming luck and prosperity with open arms.
This year was extra special because my brother, who's been in California for the past five years, surprised the entire clan by coming home with his family. You can imagine the excitement and happiness that filled our house when they walked in!
We kicked off the evening with our traditional "Media Noche" feast, a special dinner held at the stroke of midnight. The table was laden with delicious dishes symbolizing abundance and prosperity. And let me tell you, having the whole family together after so long made the food taste even better.
As the clock approached midnight, the excitement grew. We gathered outside, and the night lit up with colorful fireworks and joyous laughter. The 'torotot' horns echoed through the neighborhood, joining the chorus of celebrations across the country.
Then came the surprises! My brother had brought gifts and cash for everyone, spreading happiness and blessings all around. It was such a heartwarming moment, seeing the smiles and gratitude on everyone's faces.
Wanting to continue our family's traditions, I handed out red envelopes, known as "ampao," filled with blessings and good wishes to the children and the rest of the family. It's a gesture believed to bring luck and prosperity in the coming year.
The night was filled with laughter, stories, and cherished moments that reminded us of the importance of family and the beauty of our cultural traditions. The house felt warmer, the smiles wider, and our hearts fuller with the love and togetherness that New Year's Eve always brings.
As the night wound down and we welcomed the first moments of the new year, surrounded by the people I love most in the world, I couldn't help but feel incredibly grateful for these precious moments that bind us together.
So here's to a new year filled with love, joy, and prosperity! May it bring happiness and blessings to each and every one of us.
