I've been really nostalgic for the zines from when I was younger and even made a couple myself recently to alleviate some of that craving. Where I live there isn't any zine scene and I've not found a good way to get actual physical zines in my area. I like the idea of sifting through a rack full and choosing a few I like a lot better than picking based on a picture on a website.
Lucky for me I'm going to be visiting New York soon and I would be eternally grateful to any locals who can recommend the best places to buy local zines in Midtown ranging generally between Central Park and Times Square. Does anyone have some suggestions?
I'm interested in new art, technology, hacking, zines about zines, and survival zines. Also, old school reprinted zines that cover old punk bands like Black Flag, or old issues of 2600 or similar.
Despite my desire to hold some real zines in my hands, if you know of online digital zine libraries you would recommend I'm still interested in those too. I've found a couple and found a lot of old digitized zines on archive.org, but I'm still looking. Digital isn't quite the same as something you can hold in your hand, but it's a lot more accessible. Etsy.com, Gumroad.com, and Issuu.com have lots of sellers too.
Thanks!
