I remember hearing on the radio something to the effect of "you know you're a New Yorker when you walk down a block and say - hey I remember when this or that used to be there."
It's crazy how certain neighborhoods change so rapidly in a short amount of time. Some would argue for the better - some for the worse. Many natives will also tell you that there are no real New Yorkers living in Manhattan as who can afford a $4,000 a month studio (if you can find one)?
Sure the more things change - the more they stay the same, but I still miss the old New York I know.
