Hello Steemian friends. Nigeria as a country is richly blessed and endowed with natural resources that if properly utilized, will serve the needs of its populace therein.
But this is not so because people, most especially youths are so relaxed to tap into the wealth of the nation and rather prefer to look for white collar jobs which are already congested, even by ghost workers.

DISCRIMINATION AT THE THEATRE OF LABOUR
So many discordant tunes are been played in the Nigerian labour market. Capable youths are denied jobs because of their age, gender, tribe and even religion.
Those who have what it takes to invest meaningfully are denied the opportunity to contribute their own quota which could be helpful in the development and growth of country. How can a country move forward when incapable hands occupy positions and most at times, sensitive ones?

These forms of discrimination has brought about so many ills in the country, not just in Nigeria but other countries of the world today.
People have become experts in forging their birth certificates, lying about their age just to get a job even though they are deserve the job.
Age should not be barrier. Some people were not opportune to attend and graduate from school early.
People also pay both in cash and kind to get placed in positions they know they cannot perform.
NOTE THAT:
Any man you deny a job, you are not just denying him but his family and those dependent on him.
However, after the fight to get the job, employers due to their greed and selfishness, makes matters worst.
A legal scholar once remarked that labor laws do not exist in Nigeria because the labour market is now the employers market where they detect the tunes of the employee. An employer can default, by not paying salaries to his workers for months and it is seen as normal.
But this dares not happen in some countries for they agreed date for payment of salaries to fail. One day default incurs interest.
Most employers see employees as beast of burden who they use for their own profit.

WHAT'S REALLY THE WAY FORWARD?
I so much believe that the age of darkness will soon be over. Because there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even in a drama, music theater, there is no complete darkness forever, at times the light is completely off, fades and when the curtains are drawn and the play comes to an end, the room becomes brighter and I'm positive about development at the end of it all.
If the things listed below can be adapted and executed accordingly, i believe the country will move to its promise land:
There should be a law against discrimination of any kind in the labor market, equal opportunity for all not minding your age, sex, tribe or religion.
There should be a total cleansing, starting from those in higher authorities to the grassroot.
Youths should think outside the box and look for ways to tap into those resources we have.
Nigeria is a fertile ground for agriculture but people keep running away.
Not everyone will be good at clerical jobs, not everyone will be good in catering; but I know definitely everyone has something unique to offer.
Productivity is key.
Let's be the LEADERS of NOW and secure our TOMORROW.
