Despite the fact that the Nigerian Federal Government has continued to claim that the unity of Nigeria is unnegotiable, the fact still remains that there are aggrieved and discontented sectors of the country, the fact that Nnamdi Kanu can pull much crowd and a very large followership is evident to that.
There have also been calls for restructuring of the nation, another evidence to the fact that some sections of the country are being marginalized, but the federal government still has refused to heed those calls.
Coming back to Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB they have been going about their struggle in a very funny way. Nnamdi Kanu has been known for his derogatory utterances against the government, every one knows how he refers to the Nigerian government and Nigeria as a zoo.
He has made comments promising to burn down the zoo, he has said that if any of the soldiers from the zoo comes to arrest him, the soldiers will be killed.
But then Nnamdi Kanu has never carried arms for one day. His protest and rallies are one of the most peaceful that I have seen; it has never been recorded anywhere that his supporters molested people or vandalized properties during their protests, in fact they have coordinated themselves in a very peaceful and organized manner, yet despite their being peaceful, there have been cases of the Nigerian Army firing at them and killing some of them during protests.
On Tuesday, 12th September, 2017, the Nigerian Army started what they called a show of force in preparation to their operation codenamed Operation Python Dance in Abia state, particularly Aba and Umuahia, they fired at IPOB members, killing a number of them, went to Nnamdi Kanu's house in Umuahia but his supporters blocked the road denying them access and in a bid to disperse the crowd, they shot live bullets at the crowd, killing unarmed civilians in the process.

On Thursday, 14th September, 2017, the army invaded Kanu's house in Umuahia, shooting sporadically and also killing unarmed civilians in the process.
Shortly after the attack on Kanu's residence, well meaning Nigerians started condemning the actions of the Nigerian Army and immediately they (Nigerian Army) declared IPOB a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION, the state governor's of the South Eastern States in Nigeria also went ahead to PROSCRIBE IPOB.
The question is was the army justified in her actions, was the army right in pronouncing IPOB a terrorist group, bearing in mind that this group has never carried arms for once not even when they came under attack from the Nigerian Army, did the governors do the right thing by proscribing the group.
These questions would form the basis of the next part of this series, wait for it.
